Exterior

The mid-size H3 carries on the family tradition with off-road capabilities that make its predecessors proud.
Fuel efficient, with 11.4 L/100 km (25 mpg) highway and 16.8 L/100 km (17 mpg) city ratings.
With classic HUMMER cues like the signature 7-slot louvred grille and embossed skid plate you know at first glance the H3 is a HUMMER.
Large, wide tires enhance traction and stability both on and off-road.
The H3 features an easy to open rear cargo door.
With a tight turning radius the H3 is extremely functional in the city.

H3 is the most capable off-road vehicle in its class, with best-in-segment underbody protection, the best approach, departure and breakover angles - and crawl ratio. And for 2009, H3 offers a new available locking front differential, to complement a locking rear differential. That enables H3 to move forward even when only one wheel has traction.

And for even more stimulation, there's the 130 channels broadcast through the available XM Satellite Radio TM. Your senses come alive in H3.


Mechanical

Among its off-road credentials, the H3 can ford 610 mm (24-inch) streams at a 5-mph pace, climb 407 mm (16-inch) vertical steps and rocks, make its way through deep sand and race easily over sandy surfaces.
The H3 lineup is offered with two suspension packages: Z85 Heavy-Duty Handling and Trailering and Off-Road Adventure Package
The entry-level H3 is powered by a 3.7-liter Atlas Vortec 3500 inline-five-cylinder engine. Delivering 242 horsepower at 5600 rpm, and 242 pound-feet of torque at 4600 rpm. Customers can choose from a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic.
Optional equipment on the H3 includes: off-road suspension, a fully-locking rear differential, a sunroof, an engine block heater, and a body color grille.
The H3 has a thick solid aluminum front skidplate to protect the frame and front suspension components.
An all-wheel-drive system combined with excellent underbody protection, approach, departure and break-over angles and large tires.
Hill start assist feature executed as part of electronic stability control software (Standard on all H3 for 2009)

The available head curtain side airbags provide added head impact protection for front and outboard rear passengers.
The available rearview camera system uses a camera mounted on the rear bumper to provide a view of objects directly behind the vehicle. A new "picture-in-picture" display provides a more integrated viewing screen for the system.
The standard dual frontal air bags feature a passenger sensing system.
The H3 comes with OnStar system and 1 free year of the Directions & Connections Plan.
The standard 4-channel Anti-Lock Braking System on the H3 allows you steering control even under extreme braking.
The Tire Pressure Monitoring System constantly monitors pressure in all 4 tires.
