Exterior

20 inch wheels standard on LTZ; 18 inch wheels standard on 1LT and 2LT; 17 inch wheels standard on LS.
The 2009 Chevrolet Traverse delivers a robust and satisfying combination of power, efficiency, ride and safety.
The interior space of the Traverse is ample, with three rows of seating and cargo area of 26.1 cubic feet.

The Traverse will be offered in three trim levels: LS, LT, and LTZ.
Traverse rides on a long 118.9-inch wheelbase, with a wide 67.8-inch front track and 67.4-inch rear track - a combination that lowers the center of gravity and enables smooth, stable ride and handling.

  


Interior

The 2009 Chevrolet traverse will inherit the nifty "smart slide" second-row seat mechanism. Instead of folding/tumbling for third-row access, the seat slides ahead, causing the cushion and backrest to fold like a book to open up the entryway.
Available SkyScape sunroof and fixed rear skylight, which allows a feeling of open-air driving for all passengers.
Navigation radio and XM NavTraffic (3 months trial) standard on LTZ and available on 2LT and 1LT
Bluetooth wireless technology standard on 2LT and LTZ.
 Chevrolet went for high interior quality in the Traverse with a nicely stitched leather seats,
Heated and cooled front bucket seats standard on LTZ
When occupied, the seat slides back and forth a few inches to apportion leg room between the second and third rows. For cargo, the seatbacks flop down in the usual way with no need to remove the headrests.
Leather-appointed first and second row seating surfaces standard on LTZ and available on 2LT
Buttons on the right side of the steering wheel show audio controls and a phone button.

 


Mechanical

The rear suspension uses a compact, state-of-the-art linked "H" design, which uses an isolated mounting system to reduce noise and vibration transmitted to the passenger compartment.
The four-wheel disc brakes with ABS are standard on all models.Additional standard electronic braking features include Dynamic Rear Proportioning (DRP), Hydraulic Brake Boost (HBB) and Panic Brake Assist (PBA).
The driving experience is supported by a sophisticated, 3.6L DOHC V-6 that features variable valve timing and gasoline direct-injection technology.
The front suspension features a MacPherson strut design, with a direct-acting stabilizer bar and aluminum knuckles. Isolated mounting points help reduce noise and vibration.
Hydra-Matic six-speed automatic transmission.

 


Safety

Standard safety features include StabilTtrak electronic stability control system with rollover mitigation technology, Traction control system and Tire pressure monitoring system.
Enhanced visibility side-view mirrors is standard on LT and LTZ
Six standard air bags: two dual-stage frontal air bags, for the driver and front passenger, two seat-mounted pelvic-thorax side-impact air bags in the first row and two head curtain side-impact air bags that cover all three seating rows.
Panic Brake Assist (PBA) optimizes stopping by adding or maintaining brake pressure even if the driver unconsciously or involuntarily backs off braking during a panic or emergency situation.
A Rearview Camera System and Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist are available.
Traverse comes standard with OnStar Generation 7 (with a one-year Directions & Connections plan), which features Turn by Turn Navigation and the Advanced Automatic Crash Notification system.
